Web Design
Basic web sites can be constructed for a surprisingly low price:
as little as £100. A typical site consisting of several simple pages would cost
just a few hundred pounds, while a multi-page site with a high text content
(such as this one) would cost around £1500. This price includes collating all
source information, editing graphics, copywriting, proofing, page design and
layout, script programming and publishing your site on the internet.
Sites with a high concentration of graphics, are often
relatively inexpensive. A 25-page example, such as my
Art & Illustration
web site, where images are already available in a suitable format would cost
around £500. The photography and image processing for this particular site would
add an extra £300 to £400 to the cost.

I can also arrange for domain name registration and web hosting
for you. I do not usually charge for this. However you will need to enter
into a separate agreement with the service provider of your choice. Most web
sites can now be hosted for much less than £100 per year. Domain names can be
registered for only a few pounds per year.

Technical Authoring
Prices for authoring work are easier to quantify than for web
development, although a great deal still rests upon the nature and complexity of
the project.
As a starting point for assessing prices and delivery schedules,
I use the following rule of thumb. A typical A4 page takes three to four hours
total work: that is writing, illustrations, layout and proofing.
The following examples should provide an idea of typical prices,
but please contact me if you would like to discuss your
project in detail. I am able to offer a free quotation or
budgetary estimate.
