Photographic Imaging for the Web and Print

Economical on-site / studio photography of your products, buildings, interiors and facilities.

High-quality photographic images can be created specifically for your web site, or designed for brochures, manuals and data sheets. I offer creative and precise lighting to suit all styles, colour schemes and subject textures, using either tungsten lamps, multiple-head flash or natural light. Equipment includes:

Portable product set, with paper and fabric backgrounds, for subjects up to 1.2m.  Larger subjects can be photographed in-situ or against a suitable location backdrop. Glass light table for shadow-less images, subject mirroring, and transillumination. Specialised close-up equipment for small products, such as jewellery or electronic components. Soft-light setups using reflectors, diffusers and light tents to accommodate transparent and reflective subjects.

I also undertake image processing, enhancement and restoration; digital typography; graphic effects; photo-montages, and construction of CD based photo galleries and slide shows.

The images presented on your web site will generally be small enhanced versions of the original photographs. If required, I can also supply the originals on CD for use in other projects.

Web sites that present product specifications or support users of technical products benefit from particularly clear and concise technical prose. Based on many years' technical writing experience, I offer a professional authoring service for both printed documentation and the web:

I supply full documentation with every web site. Where appropriate, this would include written instructions and advice on administering your site, for example:

• Obtaining visitor statistics

In addition, I offer a complete range of ongoing support services, such as local on-site training for small groups of users and administrators, content management, site promotion, and telephone, fax or E-mail support. I try to accommodate occasional telephone queries informally and free of charge. If, however, you are likely to require regular or extensive telephone support, I ask that this is undertaken on the basis of an economically-priced support contract.

Bespoke PC Software

Applications and utilities for Windows

In addition to server- and client-side web scripting with VBScript and JavaScript, I also produce bespoke Windows software for the PC.

I have around twenty years software-development experience (in C, Pascal, BASIC and Fortran) covering applications in numerical modelling, laboratory instrumentation, automobile/aircraft component manufacture and testing. For much of this time, I have specialised in PC-based data acquisition and control, and have recently authored a 450-page book on the subject for IT professionals in industry and academia. 

To complement my current web-design work, I now also produce a variety of utility programs (e.g. programmer's tools and special-purpose file-management utilities).
